With its death, it seems like it’s taking down the Tom Clancy-branded free-to-play dreams a bit more. None of that matters, however, since the game was the first thing to die. Of course, the ultimate goal would have been to stay alive. Over one hundred players would have taken to the battlefield to not only fight, but also gain intelligence. The game, which was being developed for PlayStations 4 and 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Amazon Luna, and Google Stadia, was intended to be a free-to-play offering. This may not come as much of a surprise to anyone following the development process, as player response to the announcement wasn’t great and Ubisoft postponed a technical test almost immediately. ![]() During the most recent investor call, the company announced that it’d canceled the planned battle royale-style game Ghost Recon Frontline. It will remain to be seen what kind of changes Ubisoft makes or when it gets a new date for the closed test, but when it happens, you can expect to see updates on it here at Shacknews.Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise will no longer have a battle royale added to the lineup. Nonetheless, so far, it still looks like Ghost Recon Frontline is happening. The key art for a game reveals that the game will be set during the modern-day or in the near future since drones, helicopters and humvees can be spotted in the image. Clearly, Ghost Recon Frontline did not look like that win. Thanks to an Uplay news post, which someone published earlier than it was supposed to, we have a key art for Ghost Recon Frontline and a confirmation of a closed beta test. The Ghost Recon franchise has lost its footing for quite some time and one could say fans of the better games are in desperate need of a win. Ghost Recon: Wildlands before that in 2017 fared only slightly better. Ghost Recon: Breakpoint was the last game in 2019 and it didn’t win our approval. And it doesn’t help that the Ghost Recon franchise has arguably been floundering for years as Ubisoft continues to change the formula. Regardless of whether Ubisoft says it outright or not, viewers were not pleased with the look of the new game. We have an important message regarding Ghost Recon Frontline's Closed Test. The first GR Frontline Closed Beta starts on October 14 and will be exclusive to PC players. You can now register for the upcoming Closed Beta Test for the new Ghost Recon project. It is the successor to Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The postpone announcement didn’t directly cite negative backlash on the game as a reason for the action, but instead said that the team is doing its best to make the game “the best experience possible.” Even so, the Ghost Recon Frontline reveal trailer was launched on October 5 and has garnered around 17k dislikes compared to just 4.8k likes at this time. Ubisofts new free-to-play FPS, Ghost Recon Frontline, is a scavenging and extraction type game. Ubisoft announced its decision to delay the closed test on Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline via the game’s Twitter on October 13, 2021. The feedback on the reveal was loud and intensely negative and it has pushed Ubisoft to postpone a planned closed beta test as a result to try to work on the game further. ![]() Frontline is a free-to-play game that looks like it’s going to go the Battle Royale route. It was meant to be a celebration of around 20 years' worth of Ghost Recon, but it didn’t quite catch fans the way Ubisoft wanted.
